For a more sustainable 2018

Another fresh new year is almost here, and it’s the perfect time to think about where we are right now and where we want to be next year. Indeed, Clean the World has been working hard to achieve a better, healthier planet Earth. It’s not a secret that plastic and other types of waste are contaminating our precious air and water supplies. Different studies have estimated that 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic have been produced since the 50’s and only 9% of it has been recycled. The other 82% has been accumulating in landfills or sloughing off in the natural environment as litter. This has to stop, and Clean the World has been doing its homework. We are eliminating needless waste from landfills by partnering with the hospitality industry to recycle their soap and amenity bottles as part of their social responsibility programs. So far, we have diverted 15.4 million pounds of waste. It has been a year full of work and we are ready for more.

At Clean the World we contribute to a sustainable future and at the same time, we provide a healthier life for children and families all over the world who are in desperate need of proper hygiene. Our recycling program collects all the used bars of soap, bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and body wash from hotels to recycle them and sanitize them. We distribute these goods to different countries, shelters, organizations and use them as part of our disaster relief program. Soap is a life-saving necessity that can limit sickness when used properly and regularly. Bottle recycling allows the plastic to be transformed into products that society needs and preferably products that have a sustainable factor to them. Clean the World gives a second life to these items and extends a helping hand to people in need.

We hope to increase our numbers and to help more people around the world. If we do not change our habits by 2050, there will be 12 billion metric tons of plastic in landfills. That amount is 35,000 times as heavy as the Empire State Building. Clean the World is ready to make 2018 a more sustainable year and you can be part of our journey. If more hotels sign up to our recycling program, more bars of soap and bottles of plastic will be recycled and more lives will be saved. That is our New Year’s resolution. What is yours?
