More Than a Kit

As 2017 comes to an end, we reflect on the great strides we’ve made with the help of our wonderful partners in getting hygiene necessities to those in need domestically and internationally. This year alone, over half a million Clean the World Hygiene Kits were assembled by companies and volunteers here in the United States. These kits were distributed all over the country to homeless shelters, youth centers, food pantries, as well as sent to areas affected by hurricanes, wildfires, and flooding. You may be familiar with our recent Hike Across America initiative that brought nearly 10,000 Veterans’ Hygiene Kits to Veterans experiencing homelessness in 9 states, from the East to the West Coast, over the course of 3 months. Lives were changed as health and hygiene essentials were made readily available to thousands of people this year, all thanks to the businesses, school clubs, churches, conventions, and various organizations that got together for a hygiene kit building event, exemplifying their commitment to serving their community.

We hope you’ll make 2018 a special year for your team and your community by hosting a Clean the World Hygiene Kit Building Event. To better serve your charity of choice, we’ve rolled out different variations of hygiene kits in the past year. In addition to our standard hygiene kit, we now offer Children’s kits, Veterans’ kits, and Women’s kits. All items included in the kits are sent to your event unassembled for your group to put together as a fun, team-building activity before donating the kits to your local charity of choice.

The hygiene kit program was created as a domestic community outreach opportunity to enable Clean the World and its partners to give back to individuals and families in need using repurposed soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion combined with a new toothbrush, toothpaste, disposable razor, washcloth, and completed with an inspirational notecard. In developing this program, Clean the World created a corporate social responsibility activity with ties to environmental (recycled/repurposed soap and bottles) and social (donation to various community charities and their clients) elements. Because hygiene kits are useful to a variety of demographics, this program allows Clean the World and its partners to align with various platforms such as at-risk and disadvantaged women, veterans, individuals experiencing homelessness, as well as children and families in various stages of need. The hygiene kits that are assembled and shared in the communities around our nation mean so much more than the cleanliness they provide; they are a means to give the end user hope, dignity, and another chance.
