About Clean the World

Clean the World’s Global Recycling Program helps hotels divert discarded soap and plastic from landfills, turning them into new bars for communities in need. This reduces pollution, conserves water, and lowers the carbon footprint—while supporting global NGOs like The WASH Foundation to improve lives around the world.

Our Global Impact

With over 8,600 participants in its Global Hospitality Recycling Program, Clean the World is a global leader in sustainable environmental and social impact solutions, diverting soap bars and plastic amenities (which the hospitality industry would otherwise discard) from landfills and transforming the soap into lifesaving, essential supplies for communities in need across the globe.

With every recycled soap bar and every plastic amenity diverted from landfills, Clean the World helps reduce the impact of pollution on our planet and improves the lives of women, children, and communities globally by donating new soap bars to global NGOs through The WASH Foundation.

Clean the World has already diverted over 31 million pounds of waste from landfills and donated over 116,241,396 bars of recycled soap since its inception in 2009.

Soap Saves Lives

Hand washing with soap significantly reduces the impact of two fatal diseases: acute respiratory infection and diarrheal disease. These are two of the top killers of children under 5 years old. To help save those lives, recycled soap is the primary ingredient in Clean the World’s global hygiene revolution.

Turning Trash Into Treasure

Clean the World partners with hotel properties across the world to divert their discarded soap and bottled amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and body wash from landfills. All soap is recycled into new bars, and all bottles are now either recycled or converted to energy.

Participating hotels collect these hygiene products at their properties using Clean the World boxes. Once boxes are full, hotels ship them back to a Clean the World facility.
