Clean the World was thrilled to host the Green Hotel Club (GHC) at our new European headquarters in Aalsmeer, The Netherlands. This collaboration underscores our shared commitment to sustainability and marks an important step in advancing sustainable practices within Amsterdam’s hospitality industry, following Clean the World’s leading role in the City of Amsterdam’s Impact Deal, which addresses key environmental and social challenges in the city.
The GHC is a forward-thinking foundation promoting sustainable practices in Amsterdam’s hospitality industry. Through this partnership, Clean the World will work alongside GHC’s network of 14 hotels and 3 dedicated partners, all united in encouraging the hospitality industry in Amsterdam towards a more sustainable future.
A Gathering of Visionaries
The recent meeting at Clean the World’s Aalsmeer facility brought together GHC member hotels to address pressing challenges in soap and plastic recycling. Clean the World presented its Hospitality Recycling Programme as a practical solution to these challenges.
Participants, including general managers from Amsterdam hotels, were given a behind-the-scenes tour of our operations. Highlights included an up-close look at our soap recycling machine and a Q&A session led by Tommie Eaton, European Director of Clean the World. The event provided attendees with valuable insights into how the program supports their sustainability goals.
The day concluded with a hands-on CTW Events (our sister brand) hygiene kit-building activity. Kim van der Heijden, Director of Business Operations for Clean the World in Europe, described the experience as “warming,” emphasizing the meaningful impact these activities have on both participants and recipients.
Leading the Charge for Sustainability
Tommie Eaton praised the partnership with GHC, stating: “It was fantastic to connect with Green Hotel Club members. These hotels truly understand our shared sustainability objectives and the vision we’re pursuing alongside the City of Amsterdam. Through their cooperation and positive actions, they’re setting a powerful example for other hotels in Amsterdam to join the effort toward the city’s ESG goals.
Clean the World provides a streamlined solution for hotels. By simplifying the process, we hope to empower more hotels to make a meaningful impact.”

Shared Values and Tangible Impact
The Green Hotel Club focuses on five core areas: water, materials, food, mobility, and energy, and three values: health & well-being, culture & society, and biodiversity & ecosystems. Clean the World supports the “materials” and “water” themes by helping hotels manage waste, reduce their carbon footprint, and measure their environmental and social impact.
Using Clean the World’s Impact Reporting System, GHC members can track, measure, and share their progress. So far, GHC hotels have collected over 2,500 kg of plastic amenities, preventing them from entering landfills and supporting the move toward a more circular economy. Clean the World is excited to expand its impact in partnership with the Green Hotel Club. Together, we’re proving that sustainability in hospitality is achievable, measurable, and impactful.
