We are excited to celebrate Marriott Vacation Club this month for its continued commitment to sustainability and tremendous impact through Clean the World. As of June 2023, Marriott Vacation Club has distributed 627,435 soap bars through Clean the World’s recycling program. By collecting discarded soap and plastic bottled amenities (e.g., shampoo, conditioner, body wash), Marriott Vacation Club has collected 220,714 pounds of waste and saved over 391,733 gallons of water that would have otherwise been used to create new soap.
Not only is Marriott Vacation Club an avid player in global sustainability practices, but Marriott International operates under its own environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) program, Serve360. Serve360 serves as Marriott International’s promise of sustainability and social impact, with a focus on supporting underserved communities and reducing environmental impacts.
Through Serve360, Marriott International aims to reduce water intensity by 15%, waste to landfills by 45%, and carbon intensity by 30% by 2025. Through Clean the World’s recycling program, Marriott Vacation Club has already reduced 72,840 kgCO2e of its carbon footprint! Clean the World is proud to help Marriott Vacation Club deliver its ESG goals, day in and day out.
Marriott Vacation Club is so committed to its mission of a sustainable future that come 2024, all Marriott Vacation Club properties will be partaking in our hotel recycling program. Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club, a Marriott Vacation Club property, championed the Clean the World’s recycling program and helped onboard many other Marriott Vacation Club properties to the mission. This massive collaborative effort with Clean the World is a huge step in reducing the impact of single-use plastics and increasing access to essential hygiene products for communities globally.
Having a multi-faceted approach to sustainability allows Marriott Vacation Club and Clean the World to touch so many lives! We are grateful to Marriott Vacation Club for the many ways they have helped us make an impact.
