Clean the World had the pleasure of speaking with Hilton Garden Inn Bucharest to explore their experience on Clean the World’s hospitality recycling program so far and their broader sustainability initiatives.
The hotel is located just steps away from Henri Coanda International Airport’s Departure Terminal in Otopeni, Romania, in a prime location for travelers that offers convenient access to the mountain resorts of Prahova Valley and the historic cities of Transylvania.
Ensuring the Future of our Environment
As a participant in Clean the World’s Clean the World’s Global Hospitality Recycling Program since March 2023, the 218 room Hilton Garden Inn Bucharest Airport is actively recycling their plastic bottle amenities and has already collected an impressive 739 kg of plastic amenities as of 18th October.
General Manager, Daniela Anastasescu, shared insights into the hotel’s sustainability commitment
“It is not only about meeting the needs of today but ensuring the future of our environment for generations to come. As General Manager, I believe that responsible business practices must go hand in hand with providing exceptional guest experiences, and we have taken significant steps to integrate environmental stewardship into every aspect of our operations.”

Sustainability Initiatives
Our hotel, being part of the Hilton brand, has implemented a comprehensive sustainability program that touches every part of the guest experience. From energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems to eco-friendly toiletries and linens, we have worked diligently to reduce our environmental impact without compromising our guest’s comfort. Additionally, we partner with local suppliers to source sustainable, organic, and fair-trade products, supporting not only the environment but also local community
“For us sustainability isn’t just a trend—it’s a core value. We believe that by focusing on responsible environmental practices, we can continue to deliver exceptional hospitality while playing our part in creating a healthier planet for all”.
Commitment to Recycling
We have made recycling a priority for both our guests and our staff. With easily accessible recycling stations throughout the hotel, as well as behind-the-scenes waste sorting processes, we ensure that as much material as possible is diverted from landfills. Furthermore, we’ve incorporated food waste composting in our kitchens and work closely with local farms to turn organic waste into valuable resources.
Reducing Our Carbon Footprint
Reducing our carbon footprint is at the heart of our environmental strategy. This year we are aiming to transitioning to renewable energy sources for a significant portion of our electricity, dramatically cutting down our carbon emissions. Our water conservation initiatives, such as low-flow fixtures and smart irrigation systems, also contribute to minimizing resource usage while maintaining a lush, welcoming atmosphere
We’ve also embraced the use of electric and hybrid vehicles for guest transportation and logistics, providing charging stations for guests who travel sustainably.
For us sustainability isn’t just a trend—it’s a core value. We believe that by focusing on responsible environmental practices, we can continue to deliver exceptional hospitality while playing our part in creating a healthier planet for all.
