U.S. Senators Help Clean The World In Bipartisan Hygiene Kit Build

On, Wednesday, Sept. 17, we proved there are no political boundaries when it comes to the battle against hygiene-related illnesses. Legislators from both sides of the aisle joined Clean the World in the U.S. Capitol to promote hand-washing and proper hygiene in advance of Global Handwashing Day on Oct. 15.

To kick off the event in the Capitol’s historic LBJ Room, Clean the World founder Shawn Seipler was joined by the senators from Nevada, Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid and GOP Sen. Dean Heller.
“I am pleased to join my colleague Senator Heller in promoting the Clean the World’s Capitol Hill Hygiene Kit Building Initiative. These kits will be distributed to those in extreme poverty and to the homeless – including homeless military veterans and their families,” said Senator Reid. “While it may seem routine to most, the simple act of hand-washing helps save lives. Today, we are doing our small part to help all families lead healthier, happier lives.”
Members of congress and other guests then built the first of 50,000 ONE Project hygiene kits that will be assembled and donated to national veterans’ organization U.S.VETS, and The Shade Tree, a women and children’s shelter in Las Vegas.
It was an emotional day for the Clean the World team as we shared our mission with leaders on Capitol Hill. They had a genuine interest in and appreciation for what we have accomplished in just five years.
Thank you so much to the corporate sponsors that made it all possible: the American Cleaning Institute, Dallas Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, HelmsBriscoe, Sands Cares, Unilever, and UPS.
