The hotel operates entirely on 100% renewable electricity, with no fossil fuels used on-site. Gas cooking has been eliminated, replaced by induction technology and heat pumps for hot water, heating, and ventilation. This shift alone has drastically lowered the building’s emissions footprint.
The hotel has already reduced its total carbon footprint by 60%. The remaining emissions are offset through nature-based carbon removal credits from Danish agri-tech company Agreena, resulting in a fully net zero footprint, calculated in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
Understanding Emissions: Scope 1, 2, and 3
- Scope 1 emissions relate to on-site fossil fuel use. These have been fully eliminated at the hotel through electrification.
- Scope 2 emissions refer to purchased electricity, heating, and cooling—also zeroed out through verified renewable sourcing.
